Orange Trail - Hoglet Loop

Distance: 8 miles Time: Approximately 2 hrs Difficulty: Moderate (Good fitness level required)
This is one of our favourite routes and one we recommend most often.
The route loops around the western side of the forest, covering around 8 miles and taking approximately 2 hours of riding. It follows the forest’s gravel tracks throughout, with some long climbs balanced out by plenty of enjoyable descents.
The route can be ridden in either direction, so choose whichever way suits you best.
From the forest centre, follow the signs through the first field and continue onto the forest tracks. The route takes you through a mixture of steady and steeper climbs, followed by some fun, flowing descents.
As you make your way around the western side of the forest, there are some fantastic views across the surrounding fells, so it’s worth taking the time to look around and enjoy the scenery.
If you're unsure about the route pop into the shop and we'll be happy to show you the options on a map.
Riding with a group?
This route also runs alongside the North Face Trail if ridden clockwise, making it a great option if your group has mixed abilities or people want to ride different trails. You can split up and follow the two routes while still riding parts of the trails together.
